Nike Unveils Fully 3D-Printed Sneakers

Nike has introduced its first sneakers almost entirely made using 3D printing.
The new model, named Air Max 1000, was developed in collaboration with Zellerfeld, a company specializing in 3D-printed footwear. The sneakers debuted at ComplexCon in Las Vegas, showcasing a unique contour design that Nike claims would have been impossible with traditional manufacturing methods.
Inspired by the iconic Air Max 1 from 1987—the first Nike shoe with an air unit in the heel—the Air Max 1000 retains this hallmark feature, although the air unit itself wasn’t 3D-printed. Every other component, however, was crafted using the cutting-edge technology.
Thanks to 3D printing, the Air Max 1000 features a sole with varying densities and textures. The lower part provides firm support, while the upper is flexible and comfortable, allowing for an easy slip-on, lace-free experience.
