New iPad Pro to feature dual front cameras

The next-generation iPad Pro with Apple’s M5 chip will come equipped with two front-facing cameras, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter.

Gurman reports that the upcoming iPad Pro models will include both portrait and landscape-oriented front cameras — a change designed to make photography and video calls more seamless, regardless of how the device is held.

The current iPad Pro with the M4 chip features a single front camera optimized for landscape use only. However, Face ID sensors already work in any orientation.

  • The addition of a second front camera and the new M5 chip are expected to be the only major upgrades this time around.
  • Apple likely kept the changes minimal since the previous generation already introduced an OLED display and a slimmer chassis.

According to trusted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, mass production of the new iPad Pro lineup is expected to begin in the second half of this year. Given Apple’s typical 18-month refresh cycle, a launch in September or October seems likely.
