Apple is set to unveil an updated Lock Screen interface in iOS 17 that will transform the device into a "smart-home display."

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, when placed horizontally and attached to a MagSafe charging stand, the iPhone will showcase a range of information including calendar appointments, weather updates, notifications, and more. This new feature aims to turn the iPhone into a central hub for home data, similar to the Echo Show or Google Nest Hub.

Apple is reportedly working on a horizontal interface for the iPad, although it may not be ready for release alongside iOS 17.

Additionally, the company is exploring the creation of a low-cost tablet designed to magnetically attach to walls and stands, serving as a dedicated home hub.

The official announcement of iOS 17 is expected at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference keynote event on June 5, 2023.
